My advice, if you are using Firefox, install Adblock Plus addon(google it, its free of course), this will protect you from malware through advertisment. Even Google advertising service has been known to serve malware from time to time b/c its impossible to filter out all the malware criminals from the legit business that actually want to advertise. Before I used ad blocking software, some of the most innocent legit well known sites would serve me a fake virus scan popup that came from advertisement. It turned out it was some sort of trojan downloader disguising itself as an extra “svchost.exe” and a program called Ave.exe which was trying to force you buy some sort of fake-anti-virus. I was getting tool-tray warnings all pretty convincing. But last week sometime, when I loaded the front-page and a sun microsystems logo popped up followed by (what looked like) my official windows xp malware removal tool scan.
